Public Relations Publications-Language of the Image
The things that i learned in the course were :
- The different kinds of phototypes of images
- How pictures speak to the viewer by using light, color, layering and etc.
- How emotion is played in photos
- The way people are placed in pictures , tells the story in the photo
- How some pictures are meant for viewers to draw emotion from it.
These things really helped me in the way I will look at photos in the future. I never really thought about how pictures were playing upon the viewers. I always just admired the photo and never looked deep into thought with the photo.
The thing that I really want to know more about is more ways layering is used in photos. This element really stuck in my head as I took the course. I feel that if I can find out more information on layering of photos, this might be something that I would be interesting in trying myself. I have always been interested in photography, but when I enrolled in college, that urge quickly left me. My Family always told me that photography does not benefit people well money wise, unless you are really good. If I knew what i knew know i would have majored in Photography as well as Public Relations. I feel that if I know more about the elements in photos, I will get that urge again to try to pursue photography.
I was surprised at a couple of things that came across my mind while taking the course. The main thing that surprised me the most was how bad I did on the ending quiz. I paid really close to details while taking the course and in the end, did not do well. I was also surprised at all of the courses that they had listed . I am looking forward to going back on the website and taking more of the courses.. You guys should do the same!!..

Crap-Public Relations Publications

Typography-Public Relations Publications

Typography
There are certain things that you want to consider when selecting fonts. First : How easy is the font to read on 9 point body text through 72 point display text? Don't use it if it isn't readable. Second: How well does it match the targeted publics? Third: How well does the font visually reinforce the key message? Some messages are best reinforced by specialized fonts. If you believe yours is, then don't limit yourself to classic fonts. Fourth: Experiment with adapting fonts for heads , logotypes and other display purposes.
Although , selecting fonts is very important; font size is as well. The two publications i am very familiar with is the business card and the brochure. When selecting the size for a business card , you should use 8 point font and the company name should be one font size bigger. When deciding the font size for a brochure , you should use 14 for the headers and sub-headings and 12 for the rest of the text. These are very key things to remember because if the font size is too big , things get clustered, and if they are too small people cant read them as well.
There are many places you can go to get free and legal fonts . In my Public Relations Publications class i have learned many places to get fonts. I have even found a video in which i want to share with you on how to get free and legal fonts. He even tells you some places where you can get fonts. The place he is getting is fonts from on the video is dafont.com. Enjoy the video!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYs3mdPcIUg

Segmenting Publics -Public Relations Publications

To segment the publics for my client, I would first know the demographics ; which will probably be middle class clients, college degrees and above, and located in Georgia. I would then check the Psychographics , in which I'm not sure yet because i have to do more research before i can answer this. Lastly , i would check the sociographics, which is the one that i have not heard of before taking Public Relations Publications. Sociographics refers to groups that public members belong to. With this one , i will need more research as well.
My brochure will be impacted a tremendous amount because i will have to figure out what will apply to my company. As in the colors, the lay out and many more factors. I will be able to decide the design of my brochure as soon as i get more information about my company. I will be working hard to figure out exactly what i need for my client to be a success.
